Wow! What an incredible weekend. I'd like to thank the cast, crew and friends who came out to the Beverly Garlands hotel for the screening. The screening went very well. Afterwards, everyone collected outside the theater to talk and catch up. We moved to the patio of hotel bar, had drinks and continued into the night. The next evening, Jon, Greg and Heidi went to the awards ceremony. The festival put on an amazing gala event with a red carpet, press and movie and TV stars. Some of the people there included Dick Van Patten (Eight is Enough), Malcolm-Jamal Warner (Cosby Show), Eric Balfour (Six Feet Under), Robert Englund (Freddie Kruger), Fred Willard (Best in Show), Shirley Jones (Partridge Family), Jo Anne Worley (Laugh In), Marty Krofft (children's TV producer) and Tobe Hooper (director, "Poltergeist"). The festival also gave a special tribute to George Barris who has spent years creating customized cars for movies and TV, including the Batmobile and the Munster's car. Also at the gala, by sheer coincidence, was our actress from "Apartment 206", Karole Selmon, who was hired to work as a sound woman behind the scenes. After hanging outside for awhile, everyone went into the ballroom, milled around, talked, drank, and had dinner and desert. There had to be almost 300 people there. The ceremony got under way around 8pm. It was very much like the Golden Globes or the Oscars, with an announcer reading off the nominees, then opening an envelope to reveal the winner. After the winner was announced, they showed a clip from his or her film. The festival gave awards in several categories and handed out lifetime achievements to industry veterans. Everyone gave speeches which were telecasted on a screen behind the podium. When the time came for best short, they read off the nominees and awarded it to "APARTMENT 206." I went up and thanked the festivals, the cast and crew, producers and Heidi. What an exciting night!
