BRECKENRIDGE FILM FESTIVAL
scroll down

Jon, Heidi and I just got back from Breckenridge. What an AMAZING festival. It's so well run and organized. They were incredibly hospitable and very giving toward their filmmakers. They really made us feel special. Plus they had great community support. We met a bunch of talented, wonderful people there.

Friday morning, when we arrived at the hospitality center to check in, a bunch of filmmakers were already watching Apartment 206 on the TV. What a welcome! We hung around the hospitality suite for awhile, meeting people and getting situated. Then we checked in at the Breckenridge Lodge and Spa, the incredible accommodations they provided us on a mountain overlooking the town and valley.

That night Jon and I attended the 25th Anniversary Gala. They honored JoBeth Williams. Jeffrey Lyons interviewed her. She was very funny and intelligent. Anyone who's seen Apartment 206 can probably see some Poltergeist influences—so it was a real treat for me to hear her talk about the film.

The next morning I was in an indie film panel at Maggie Pond, a small pond in the center of town. Me and other filmmakers answered questions from festival attendees.

That night the three of us went out to an amazing dinner, then attended a dance party where we hooked up with all the friends we met. I was video-interviewed by an online film magazine (which I'll post as soon as I hear more).

Jon and I attended a brunch Sunday morning, caught another screening, then we all left mid-day to catch a few hours at Lakeside, an old amusement park just north of Denver, which I wanted to location scout for a script I'm writing.

Breckenridge screened Apartment 206 twice. We missed the first screening on Friday morning at the Breckenridge Theater but attended the Saturday screening at Town Hall. Several of the filmmakers we met came out to support us. When the film ended the audience gave an enthusiastic applause. Jon and I got up after and answered questions.

Overall, the films at Breck were very good and the people and entire experience couldn't have been nicer. I don't think Jon, Heidi or I will ever forget it.
