OTHER SEPTEMBER HIGHLIGHTS
scroll down

Other than San Diego and Breckenridge, we had some other highlights in September...

WE WON!—Shockerfest

Apartment 206 won 3 awards at Shockerfest in Modesto, CA! Our amazing actress, Nicola, won a Best Actress award in the science fiction category and our very talented actor, Troy Bishop, won Honorable Mentions in the same category. We also won Honorable Mentions for sci-fi short.

Because I was at San Diego and Shriekfest the same weekend, I wasn't able to attend Shockerfest—but I hear the film was very well received.

WE WON!—Shriekfest

On Sunday after San Diego, "Apartment 206" received an award for Best Sci-Fi short at Shriekfest in Hollywood! Shriekfest put on a great festival in Raleigh Studios in Hollywood. They converted a sound stage into a hospitality center with couches and movie posters.

The week before, Jon and I went to the opening night party at the Red Buddha bar. We mingled and met fellow sci-fi and horror filmmakers. Everyone was extremely nice and excited by the genre. There's nothing like horror/sci-fi fans!

We screened the first Sunday evening of the festival to crowd of about 60. Jon brought some buddies from Imagistic while my friends, Andrew Sheila and Albert came out for the film. We were in a fun block of sci-fi, comedic and straight horror shorts that were all very entertaining. We all went out afterwards and grabbed a bite.

The next Sunday they had the awards ceremony in the theater. They gave out several awards (shaped like tombstones!) to screenwriters and filmmakers. Then we all got up on stage and took a group photo. Overall, a very nice and friendly festival.

Greg accepts the award for best sci-fi short.

WE WON!—Dragon*Con

Apartment 206 won Best Short and Best Fantasy at Dragon*Con film festival! Dean StockwelI presented the awards. I couldn't attend Dragon*Con but Matthew Foster, the festival director, had someone from his staff read a small speech I wrote. I spoke to Matthew on the phone about the festival. He said the screening was packed.
